Path of the Battlerager FAQ
What are the main Path of the Battlerager features?
Battlerager is a close-quarters Barbarian built around spiked armor. Battlerager Armor adds a bonus-action spike attack and grapple damage, Reckless Abandon converts Reckless Attack into temporary hit points, Battlerager Charge improves pursuit, and Spiked Retribution punishes nearby enemies that hit you.
3rd level — Battlerager Armor
The path is built around spiked armor. While raging in that armor, you can make a bonus-action melee weapon attack with the armor spikes. The feature also adds piercing damage when you successfully grapple a creature.
6th level — Reckless Abandon
When you use Reckless Attack while raging, you gain temporary hit points based on your Constitution modifier. This partially offsets the risk of making yourself easier to hit.
10th level — Battlerager Charge
While raging, you can take the Dash action as a bonus action.
14th level — Spiked Retribution
While raging and wearing spiked armor, a creature close to you that hits you with a melee attack takes piercing damage from the armor.
How the features work together
The path rewards constant contact. Spiked armor supplies an extra attack while raging, Reckless Abandon softens the risk of Reckless Attack, and Battlerager Charge helps the Barbarian reach a new target without giving up the Attack action. Spiked Retribution then makes staying beside you costly for melee enemies.
