D&D Portal uses sources for rules reference, page organisation, historical comparison, mechanical inspiration, homebrew development, and campaign documentation.

• Official Dungeons & Dragons rules.
• Simplified explanations of official rules.
• Dungeon Master interpretations.
• Campaign-specific house rules.
• Original homebrew material.
• Third-party or community-created material.

A source, an author, and a licence are different things. Public accessibility does not automatically mean content is free from copyright or may be republished without permission.

When possible, D&D Portal should summarise, explain, organise, or link to source material instead of replacing the original publication.

Official publications are used for direct rules reference, comparison, and attribution. Some older books are used as inspiration for conversion or homebrew development.
