Mastermind FAQ
How does Mastermind interact with Sneak Attack?
Mastermind does not create a special personal Sneak Attack trigger. Its combat strength is often indirect: the bonus-action Help improves an ally's attack while the Rogue still uses the action for a normal Sneak Attack weapon attack. This makes it a strong cooperative archetype.
The base Sneak Attack rule still applies
The subclass does not add a new personal Sneak Attack trigger. You still qualify through the ordinary Rogue methods, while Master of Tactics often spends the bonus action creating advantage for someone else.
Subclass interaction
Mastermind does not create a special personal Sneak Attack trigger. Its combat strength is often indirect: the bonus-action Help improves an ally's attack while the Rogue still uses the action for a normal Sneak Attack weapon attack. This makes it a strong cooperative archetype.
Reaction attacks can still matter
A qualifying reaction attack can still carry Sneak Attack on another creature's turn. At higher level, however, Misdirection also competes for the reaction, so defense, redirection, and off-turn offense can become meaningful choices.
Do not double-count subclass damage
Mastermind's support features do not add a separate damage pool to Sneak Attack. Its combat value often appears in an ally's improved attack rather than in a larger personal damage number.
