The Pugilist subclass is called a Fight Club. A Fight Club is chosen at 3rd level and grants additional features at 6th, 11th, and 17th level.

Arena Royale

Arena Royale mixes fighting with performance.

The Pugilist creates a larger-than-life persona and gains social-performance benefits tied to that identity.

The persona also provides a separate resource that can substitute for Moxie in specified situations and improve Charisma-based performance under the subclass rules.

Choose Arena Royale for a wrestler, prizefighter, masked performer, or gladiator whose public identity matters as much as the brawl.

Bloodhound Bruisers

Bloodhound Bruisers are urban investigators and trouble-finders.

The subclass improves initiative and first-round pressure and adds stronger Insight, Investigation, or Perception capability.

Later features allow the Pugilist to study a particular enemy and gain significant offensive and defensive benefits against it.

Choose Bloodhound Bruisers for a detective, bounty hunter, urban vigilante, or observant street fighter.

Dog & Hound

Dog & Hound gives the Pugilist a canine companion.

The companion uses a defined creature-stat foundation modified by the Pugilist's level and proficiency and acts through the subclass's command structure.

Later features improve the hound's durability and coordination with the Pugilist.

Choose Dog & Hound when a fighting partnership with a loyal animal companion is the main concept.

Piss & Vinegar

Piss & Vinegar is the dirty-fighting and provocation club.

Its features use insults, intimidation, and deliberately unfair techniques to pressure enemies.

The subclass can provoke targets and later use tricks such as slowing, knocking prone, or blinding enemies under its feature rules.

Choose Piss & Vinegar when the character should win through aggression, taunting, and underhanded tactics.

The Squared Circle

The Squared Circle is the grappling specialist.

It adds Moxie-powered grappling options such as forcing a grapple escape reroll, replacing an opportunity attack with a grapple, or combining a grapple with knocking a target prone.

Later features turn grappled enemies into cover, improve dragging and effective size for grappling, and reward attacking creatures already held.

Choose Squared Circle for a wrestler, grappler, or control-focused brawler.

The Sweet Science

The Sweet Science is technical boxing.

Cross Counter lets the Pugilist spend Moxie to reduce incoming melee damage and potentially answer with an immediate strike when all damage is prevented.

Later features improve The Old One-Two, reward successful counters, and culminate in a knockout mechanic.

Choose Sweet Science for a boxer who relies on timing, counters, combinations, and precision.

Which Pugilist version is this?

These six Fight Clubs belong to the older d8 Moxie/Fight Club Pugilist. The later D&D Beyond *Pugilist Class (2024)* uses a different class chassis and should not be mixed into these Fight Club rules.
