Wisdom remains the primary ability

Wisdom controls Cleric spell attack rolls, spell save DC and the number of Cleric spells prepared. None of the core Life Domain healing features replaces Wisdom as the class's spellcasting ability.

Heavy armor changes defensive planning

The 1st-level proficiency lets the Cleric use heavy armor if the character can acquire and effectively wear it. This can make a Life Cleric more comfortable near the front line, but armor alone does not make the character invulnerable.

Do not heal damage that can be prevented more efficiently

A strong Cleric turn may involve bless, spirit guardians, control, removing a condition, protecting concentration or defeating a dangerous enemy. Healing is valuable when it changes whether an ally can continue functioning, not merely because some hit points are missing.

Use Preserve Life for distributed emergency recovery

Preserve Life is particularly useful when several allies have fallen below half hit points. Because it cannot heal a creature above half maximum, it is designed for stabilizing badly injured allies rather than topping off healthy characters.

Exploit the free prepared spell package

Domain Spells do not consume ordinary preparation slots. Use that extra flexibility to prepare Cleric spells that cover other needs instead of preparing duplicate healing options automatically.

Remember weapon versus cantrip choices

Divine Strike rewards one weapon hit per turn from 8th level, but a Life Cleric remains a full spellcaster. Whether a weapon attack, cantrip or leveled spell is best depends on range, equipment, ability scores and the encounter.
