Life Domain FAQ
What is the Life Domain?
The Life Domain is the 2014 Cleric subclass focused most directly on healing, protection, restoration and preserving life. It grants heavy armor, improves healing spells through Disciple of Life, adds the Preserve Life Channel Divinity, heals the Cleric when healing others, adds radiant Divine Strike damage and eventually maximizes the healing dice of spells through Supreme Healing.
Subclass identity
Life Domain is the dedicated restoration-focused Divine Domain in the 2014 Cleric rules. It is chosen at 1st Cleric level and immediately changes both equipment and spellcasting.
Domain progression
Life Domain features arrive at Cleric levels 1, 2, 6, 8 and 17. Domain Spells are also added automatically at Cleric levels 1, 3, 5, 7 and 9.
Domain Spells
The Life Domain spell list is bless and cure wounds; lesser restoration and spiritual weapon; beacon of hope and revivify; death ward and guardian of faith; mass cure wounds and raise dead. Once gained, these Domain Spells are always prepared and do not count against the Cleric's normal number of prepared spells.
Heavy armor
Bonus Proficiency grants heavy armor proficiency at 1st level. This lets a Life Cleric stand closer to endangered allies without abandoning the full-caster Cleric chassis.
Party role
Life Cleric is strongest when healing, prevention and restoration are important, but it remains a full Cleric. The character still has the complete Cleric spell list, Turn Undead, Destroy Undead, Divine Intervention and ordinary weapon or cantrip options.
