Movement rule
Walking
Walking is a movement rule used during exploration, encounters, and combat.
What It Is
Walking is the default way most creatures spend movement.
This page is a compact play reference. If a spell, feature, monster, item, or DM ruling gives a more specific instruction, use that specific instruction.
How To Use It
Spend feet of movement up to your speed, mixing walking with other movement modes if you have enough movement left.
Limits And Rolls
- Difficult terrain and special movement can increase movement cost.
- If your speed is 0, you cannot move by walking.
- Walking normally requires no roll.
- You only roll when the rule, DM, spell, item, or feature asks for a roll.
